I’ve done a lot of thinking these past couple days after surviving the Vegas shooting… Let me tell you all about an angel that was in Vegas the night of the shooting that none of you know about. Her name is Brittany LaJoie. See god works in mysterious ways. A few weeks back Brittany randomly broke her femur in a simple fall that should have just caused some bumps and bruises. That injury put Brittany in a wheel chair with the inability to walk. Feeling sad and helpless prior to leaving to Vegas she debated going. Her words to me was that she didn’t want to be a “burden” on anyone. Little did she know that burden would turn into a blessing… See I’m a no fucks given crazy think out of the box person and nothing stops me from wanting to fix bad situations. So to make her feel a part of the group I went online and purchased the brightest green LED lights I could find to install on the wheels of the wheel chair Brittany would be in for the concert. Under lights, wheel lights, headlights that shined up to 600 ft . You name it and I bought it. Once again Sunday morning Brittany wasn’t feeling well. We went through the day and rested. Come time for the concert she toughed it out and got dressed even though she debated staying at the hotel not knowing she would be our angel that night. Realizing that the batteries died in the LED’s I ran down to buy new batteries not even realizing how important those light would be later…. When those shots rang out and people started dropping just a few feet from us we all started running for whatever cover we could find even though we didn’t even know what direction the bullets were coming from. I yelled to my group that was about 20 people large to get down as we started hearing bullets wiz by and bouncing off everything around us. I grabbed the wheel chair and I ran Brittany over against a fence which you can actually see in a few news media videos because you can see her bright green LED’s. See I promised Brittany’s mom I would protect her with my life in that wheel chair and I promised she would make it home safe “no matter what happened”… Little did we know what would happen. I got her out of the wheelchair and laid over her to protect her from bullets flying by and pulled the wheel chair in tight to her to protect her legs from people running by. As I looked around I could only see a few of our group. I leaned against Brittany and said hang on baby were getting the fuck out of here. As I evaluated the trail of bullets I seen an opportunity to move. I yelled as loud as I could and said lets go. Got Brittany in the wheelchair and went into a full sprint. I tell you what. You’ve never seen a wheel chair move this fast. That moment was when Brittany became an angel for our group. As spread out as we were when we all dropped everyone seen the flash of a speeding BRIGHT GREEN WHEEL CHAIR flying by at record speed. Our group knew it was us so they all jumped in tow quickly behind us. We had to take cover a few more times as more bullets passed by and all you can hear is the screams of people being hit before we could make it out of the venue but if it wasn’t for those Bright green LED lights our group might have been separated and caused them to go a different direction and who knows what would have happened. Our bright green angel Brittany led the way to safety as we moved against a half wall for protection and bolted across the middle of Las Vegas Blvd looking for an opening in the trees and bushes that the wheelchair would fit through. With Brittany low in a wheel chair and my back to the shooter I knew I was the only thing she had for a shield to protect her from bullets and I was prepared to die getting her to safety. I leaned over her and ran like hell yelling for Nate to help me pick the entire wheel chair up and over the center median with Brittany still in it that splits Las Vegas Blvd. and into the Luxor to safety. So you tell me…. for some reason Brittany broke her leg that put her in a low position, smaller target, and protected in a seat attached to lights that led the way for part of our group to see in the thousands of people running in panic which potentially saved more of our groups lives. Brittany you were an angel of light for our group and didn’t even know how important is was for you to be there. You my dear and that wildly bright wheel chair are hero’s
